e-Newsletter 08/24/12

Good afternoon parents!

Welcome to a new year! Everyone is starting to settle in, and the first week has come to a conclusion.

Please take a few minutes to read over the important things we have going on in the classrooms:

--School Supplies--
We are still in need of clear cover (1 and 1/2 inch) white three ring binders, composition notebooks (primary and regular), scissors, and an electric pencil sharpener. If you have not sent these supplies with your child, then please do so on Monday. If you have any extras around the house, we'd gladly take them off your hands!

--Dismissal Transportation--
If your child is using an alternative method of transportation, please contact us either via email or phone by 8am the morning of. Thank you for your cooperation!

--Behavior Stars and Take Home Folders--
Please initial under your child's behavior star, and check the take home folder daily. This acts as a source of communication on how your child behaved throughout that day. The colors start on yellow and work up (yellow < blue < green <purple; a "stop sign" is the color red and means the child was demonstrating disruptive behavior), but the goal is to be on purple every day!

--Kindergarten--The temperature fluctuates between both classrooms. Your child may want to bring a sweat shirt to keep in their book bag in case they are cold. Kinder parents, please send in an additional supply of clothes in a gallon sized bag with your child's name on it (in case of an accident).

--Snack Calendar--
Please check the snack calendar and send in snack supplies for 18 children on the assigned day.

--Tropical Storm Isaac--
Please know that the District's Hurricane Preparedness Team is keeping a close eye on the tropics and "Isaac." At this time, no decision has been made regarding the status of school operations on Monday (August 27th). For the most up-to-date and accurate information coming directly from the District offices, please rely on the District's emergency information sources before, during, and after the storm:

Emergency Information Hotline - Call 1-888-99-4NEWS (6397) for updates in English, Spanish, and Creole District Website - log on to www.collierschools.com The Education Channel - turn to Comcast Cable 99

School status information is released as it becomes available. These three District-controlled sources will always provide you with the latest and most complete information available, again, directly from the District offices.

That should about do it! Thank you again for a successful first week, and we look forward to talking with everyone soon!

Have a fun, and safe weekend!
